ERME Outstanding Project Award Winners

The National ERME Program provides an annual award to recognize outstanding projects conducted in each of the four regions of the country. The Award seeks to highlight excellence in Extension programming and Project Director scholarship and to promote the many successful ERME projects and resulting educational resources. The Outstanding Project Awards are presented to the Project Directors at the ERME National Conference.

2020 North Central Region ERME Outstanding Project Award Recipient: Jim Jansen and Allan Vyhnalek

Project Director Jim Jansen and co-director Allan Vyhnalek, both with Nebraska Extension, received the 2020 award in the North Central Region. Their project was entitled "So You've Inherited a Farm, Now What?" The project provided education on the financial, human, and legal risks associated with farm transition and helped impact participants ranging from off-farm heirs to multi-generation farm family operations to ag professionals working closely with producers on farm transition issues. An outstanding project story and an accompanying success story highlight the impacts of this project. 2019 North Central Region ERME Outstanding Project Award Recipient: The Land Connection

The Land Connection in Champaign, Illinois received the 2019 award in the North Central Region. The organization's project was titled "Risk Management for Illinois Farmers Transitioning to Organic and Identity-Preserved Crop Production." The project provide education and network connections that have helped producers be successful in the transition from convention to organic production and marketing An outstanding project story highlights the impact for one particular farm couple.
